The Tweed Coast and the seaside villages dotted along it are famous for beaches, surfing, fishing, reserves and beachside parks.
Cabarita, Hastings Point, Pottsville Beach, Fingal Head, Kingscliff, and Wooyung are the family friendly seaside villages sharing more than 25 kilometres of beaches and coastal reserves, from Tweed Heads in the north to Brunswick Heads in the south.

Cabarita Beach
Called "Caba" by locals, the original name for this seaside village is Bogangar, which was believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "place of many pippies". More recent research provides other alternatives.
In 2020, Cabarita Beach was named Australia's "Best Beach" by Tourism Australia's Beach Ambassador, Brad Farmer AM.
Based on water quality, cleanliness, capacity, facilities, safety and 'wow' factor, as well as a host of other factors, Farmer called it "a quintessential Aussie beachscape showcasing a truly diverse range of settings to swoon over".
Despite these accolades, "Caba", retains a laid back and relaxed holiday atmosphere, where the main activities are surfing (with a long right hand point break), swimming, beach and estuary fishing and canoeing.
There's a convenient shopping centre with Woolwooths supermarket and speciality retailers if you don't fancy the short drive to Kingscliff or Tweed Heads.
And for food lovers, an array of dining options are also available, including seafood, Asian, and Mediterranean, as well as the ubiquitous Aussie pub and sports club fare.

Attraction and Tours
Cudgen Nature Reserve
Encompassing Cudgen Lake and Round Mountain, and straddling Clothiers Creek Road, Cudgen Nature Reserve is located less than a kilometre west of Cabarita.
Ideal for canoeing, access to Cudgen Lake and the foreshores, which has picnic facilities, is available via an easement adjacent to Cabarita Lake Apartments. An Aboriginal stone quarry has been found on the edge of the lake and the area remains of significance to local Kooris.
On a clear day there are excellent views of Mt Warning/Wollumbin from its eastern shore. The reserve contains a variety of vegetation types which are home to a number of threatened plant and animal species, and also supports a dwindling coastal koala population.
Norries Headland Lions Park
Originally said to have been a small rocky island outcropping, before sand miners put in a rockwall and connected it to the beach, Norries Headland offers wonderful ocaen views, with walking paths to Cabarita Beach to the north, and Maggies Beach on the southern side.
The headland park has a very popular carpark, with BBQs, a playground, picnic tables, shelter sheds, and public toilets with showers. The park area has been earmarked for upgrading and redevelopment, to protect the unique ecological communities and cultural heritage sites, while providing modern amenities for visitors to enjoy.
Pottsville Environmental Park
On the Coast Road at Pottsville Beach between two arms of Cudgera Creek, the Pottsville Environmental Park contains fresh and saltwater (mangrove) wetland, coastal eucalypt forest and remnants of heath and rainforest.
Recreation facilities include walking trails, also suitable for gentle bicycling, and a large grassed area are suitable for families to enjoy. Walking tracks are well developed, with boardwalks through wetland areas and viewing platforms by the creek.
Getting to Cabarita
Road
Getting here is easy: Located just a few minutes from the Pacific Highway, Cabarita Beach is about 11 hours drive north from Sydney and about 70 minutes drive south from Brisbane, via the Pacific Motorway.
Air
Domestic flights operate from all capital cities to Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta, 20 minutes to the north and the Ballina/Byron Gateway airport 45 minutes south. A number of international carriers servicing SE Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific fly into Gold Coast Airport.

Coach/Rail
Local bus services travel between Cabarita and Kingscliff, Tweed Heads, and the Gold Coast in the north. Daily interstate coach services are available from Brisbane and Sydney, and daily or overnight train from Sydney to Brisbane via coach transfer to Casino.
